I’m headed to Berlin for IFA, Europe’s biggest tech show. Think CES only bigger, and more focused on European gadgets which means we may not see all that’s released here in the US.
That’s ok though, there will be plenty of exciting stuff to talk about and tear apart. When I first went to IFA two years ago, Samsung launched its first “Phablet,” the Galaxy Note.
I thought it was cool then, (since I didn’t need my reading glasses to look at it) though many reporters traveling with me pooh-poohed it as laughable. Samsung gets the last laugh, as this year they’ll be showing off version 3 of the Note, as well as their much-anticipated smart watch.
I’ve already received some NDA info from partners so this is real guys. We just have to wait to see how useful it is and what kind of tech is baked in. Of course, Samsung is trying to take the lead before Apple’s expected iWatch announcement at the rumored event on Sept. 10th.
I’ll be strolling the halls (activity tracker firmly attached) looking for fun home automation products, 4K TV’s, Sony’s latest offerings as well as HTC’s possible Phablet. There’s also rumors of a 20-inch tablet.
