2. HTC EVO 4G for Sprint ($199 after a $100 mail-in rebate, with a two-year contract) If Dad is a speed demon, then an EVO 4G is the way to go. It’s the first 4G-capable phone in the U.S. Sprint is leading the race to 4G with its network already up and running in 32 cities. The company says it plans to add at least 14 more by the end of the year. The EVO runs Google’s Android 2.1 operating system, and is built by HTC, boasting a crystal clear 4.3-inch screen with two cameras. One is a forward-facing 1.3-megapixel camera designed for video-chat.The 8-megapixel autofocus camera on the back has an LED flash. An HD camcorder captures memories and an HDMI out lets you share them instantly on your flatscreen at home.

3. Droid Incredible (Verizon Wireless for $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate): The HTC Droid Incredible is blazingly fast, thanks to Verizon’s 3G network. The HTC smartphone, running Android 2.1, features an 8-megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G are all onboard. The capacitive touch screen measures 3.7 inches diagonally and the excellent screen resolution makes it a great phone for web browsing. There’s also a built-in accelerometer. Google Maps offers turn-by-turn navigation, and the keyboard is voice-enabled. Just tap the microphone and say what you can’t type. Or say what you’re looking for and the speech-recognition search will find it for you.
